Cacao, scientifically known as Theobroma cacao, has been revered for thousands of years by Indigenous cultures in Central and South America. Known as the “food of the gods,” it has been used in sacred ceremonies and rituals to promote heart-opening, spiritual connection, and emotional clarity. As well as being used ceremonially, cacao was used as a currency and seen as valuable as gold.

Ceremonial cacao is crafted from the raw, unprocessed cacao bean, revered for its rich nutritional profile. Cacao is high in antioxidants, supports healthy blood flow, and is a natural source of essential minerals such as magnesium, iron, and potassium. Unlike popular sweetened chocolate, ceremonial cacao is minimally processed to retain its full potency—making it a nourishing ally for grounding, creativity, and emotional harmony.

HeartSong Cacao is sourced directly from Indigenous women in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, ensuring that our cacao is not only of the highest quality but also created with deep respect for both the land and the people who cultivate it.

Each batch of cacao is fermented, sun-dried, fire-toasted and hand-peeled by Q’eqchi women, honoring ancestral farming methods that prioritize sustainability. By purchasing from us, you’re supporting not just a cacao business, but a network of women farmers and their families who are empowered to lead with their culture.
